Deck & Fence Finishes Built for Pacific Northwest Weather
Decks and fences take a beating out here. Rain, UV exposure, standing moisture, moss, mildew, barbecue grills being dragged across instead of lifted… also known as Oregon being Oregon. Most wood failures aren’t because the wood was “bad.” They happen because somebody skipped prep, trapped moisture, or slapped a coating over surfaces that were already failing.
Proper wood restoration is takes longer than people want it to. That’s just reality. Full cleaning, pH balancing, sanding, dry times, and choosing the right stain system for the condition of the wood matter way more than fancy marketing labels on a can.
Why So Many Decks & Fences Fail Early
A properly restored deck during sunset is magical and we all know it. A badly prepped one is also memorable… just for completely different reasons.
-
Gray Patina, UV-damaged fibers never removed.
-
Power washing soft wood into oblivion instead of low pressure cleaning.
-
No brightener or pH neutralizer after stripping.
-
Transparent stains used where wood is already too weathered.
-
Peeling coatings never fully removed.
-
Skipping sanding because “the stain will hide it.”
-
Products chosen for price instead of longevity. Please. Just don't.
"PREP IS KING"

Our Process
WE CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE WOOD FIRST
Not every deck or fence needs the same treatment. Some wood can be cleaned and maintained. Other surfaces need stripping, sanding, or semi-solid stains because the wood has weathered too far.
WE CLEAN & RESTORE THE SURFACE PROPERLY
Depending on the condition of the wood, this may include low pressure washing, chemical stripping, brightening, neutralizing, sanding, and moisture testing before coatings are applied. Most of the work happens before the stain can even be opened.
WE HELP MATCH THE RIGHT FINISH SYSTEM
The right system depends on sun exposure, wood species, existing coatings, age, maintenance expectations, and how honest everyone wants to be about the actual condition of the wood.
WE APPLY COATINGS CORRECTLY
Board by board to ensure no lap marks. Correct weather windows for proper curing conditions. Wood coatings fail fast when shortcuts happen, especially in the Pacific Northwest.
