Things to Know When it Comes to Painting
When it comes to having a house painted, customers often have a variety of questions. We prefer our customers have the answers they need. So here are some common FAQs and their answers that might help.
1. How long will the painting project take? The duration of each project depends on the size and scope of the work. Additional factors can include weather conditions on exterior projects, and if we are working around other tradesmen’s schedules. For example, a typical exterior house painting can take a week or two, while interior projects can take a few days per room. With that said, we consistently strive to remain flexible with our customers schedules and are available to discuss expediting of projects when possible.
2. How do I choose the right paint colors? There are a multitude of styles and schemes to choose from, which can be quite overwhelming. This is why we not only offer color consultation services to help you in locating the perfect colors for your home, but we also have a page on our website that offers a starting point to finding what color schemes calls to you. If you would so like, we can also provide sample draw down cards and samples to ensure you are happy with your choices before we commence your painting project. Once you’ve made your selection(s) we will send a Color Authorization form to receive your final approval before we start.
3. How should I prepare my home for painting? For exterior painting, you’ll want to be sure to trim back any plants close to the house so the surfaces are free to be coated. Additionally, any personal items should be removed away from surfaces to be painted. Please note, when it comes to flower beds, gardens, and such, we will put out protective covers to keep paint residue from affecting the vegetation. For interior painting, please make sure your personal items have been removed and placed in a safe location. Large furniture items will be moved to the center of rooms and fully covered with plastic tarps to keep protected. Another step is to make sure that the surfaces (i.e. walls, trim) are clean and free of dust.
4. How much will it cost to paint my house? To be honest this is a tough one to provide a singular answer to. Every project varies according to size, condition of the surfaces, and the type of paint used. To get a more precise estimate, please reach out to us so we can discuss your project and come take a look at the work you have in mind.
5. Do you require a deposit? Yes, we typically require a deposit to secure your project on our schedule. This initial amount goes towards the securing of materials and supplies for the job. The standard deposit is 50% of the cost of the job, however larger projects may be broken up into installments.
6. What forms of payment do you accept? We accept various forms of payment including cash, checks, and major credit cards. However, if you prefer to pay via credit card, please note there is a 3% merchant processing fee that will be applicable.
